Detailed information on Maruichi Nakayama Nagura Progression Set - Japanese Natural Finishing Whetstones

These exceptional Japanese whetstones were imported directly from Japan and thoroughly tested by us.

Limited edition Nakayama Kiita Maruichi Tomo nagura. Perfect for razors and Kamisori and marketed originally to the Japanese Barber industry. Maruichi was a shop in Japan which supplied beauty supplies to barbers in the region and beyond. They selected the many stones from different mines but mainly marketed Hon Narutaki, Nakayama, and Shobudani for Kamisori and straight razors. These stones are Old stock, Vintage, BNIB piece which was stored from the shop\'s vast left over inventory.

Specs for each stone:

No. 1 measures 62 mm (2.44 in) long × 40 mm (1.57 in) wide × 50 mm (1.97 in) tall, and weighs 82 g (2.89 oz / 0.18 lb).Hardness: 4.5This Nakayama Kiita Iromono Tomo Nagura offers a smooth, silky, fast cutting yet fine honing experience.

No. 2 measures 63 mm (2.48 in) long × 40 mm (1.57 in) wide × 18 mm (0.71 in) tall, and weighs 108 g (3.81 oz / 0.24 lb).Hardness: 4This Nakayama Kiita Maruka is the most fine finishing Tomo of the 3-piece set and by far the most desirable.

No. 3 measures 75 mm (2.95 in) long × 85 mm (3.35 in) wide × 15 mm (0.59 in) tall, and weighs 180 g (6.35 oz / 0.40 lb).

Hardness: 3.5This large Nakayama Akapin Tomo can be used either for direct hand held honing or as a slurry creation medium (Tomo). This Akapin would be considered the most aggressive, pre finishing Tomo of the set. If used in a honing progression, this would be used first for its high cutting speed and larger particles which remove the previous grit scratches effectively.
