This is a photo of the original rug, dated 1892. This is a simplified version of the original. In the center of the rug is an anchor and two houses, or boat houses, with the date, 1892, above. Against the dark border are anchors, in each corner, horse shoes and four stars. They seem to represent what every sailor wishes for starry skies, good luck and anchors to anchor his ship and home.
