Carved by hand from Guatemalan jadeite, this pendant by Kerry Thompson is defined by the stone\'s remarkable depth and luminosity. He has used his eye for contrast, polishing all but the front face to a high gloss producing a rich, aqueous glow.

What sets this piece apart is the series of nested triangles carved into its face, using polish to establish a contrast. There are eight in total - three comprised of five smaller triangles and five comprised of three. These are a precise geometric arrangement that ascend the toki and lend the material an ancient meaning. A subtle design that perhaps echoes the Mayan understanding of nested triangles as the intersection of celestial forces descending into the material world.

Kerry has finished CAELUM with a dual tone bright polish, which glows with a glacial blue that is unusual and striking and a tactile matte front face where the design shines through.

This piece is finely carved by hand and is a beautiful, one only pendant. Take a moment to view the video - this shows the fine finish and the very subtle ovoid shape that are central to this very clever design.
