A more delicate version of the Cosimo Necklace, the Bia is a woven gold chain necklace, with Roman clasps cast from an original relic piece sourced by Olivia in the Grand Bazaar of Istanbul.
In a posthumous portrait by Branzino, Bia de’ Medici, daughter of Cosimo, wears a delicate-yet-rich gold chain at throat and waist. She is remembered in Bronzino’s portrait as a child haloed in light and clothed in Florentine silk. The clasps are part of the beauty of this piece, which can be worn with them at the nape of the neck, or as an additional detail at the throat.
