This antique Shiraz rug from 19th-century Persia reflects the rich weaving traditions of the Qashqai and surrounding tribal groups in the Fars region. The central design is characterized by two large lozenge-shaped medallions, densely filled with intricate geometric motifs. The background is rendered in a deep indigo field with scattered symbolic ornaments and rosettes, enclosed by a bold zigzag border.
Shiraz rugs are known for their tribal authenticity, saturated natural dyes, and bold graphic expression, making them both decorative and historically significant.
