Tabriz Rugs are the most diverse and innovative in Persia due to its high-quality. Tabriz designs are hand-knotted with fine soft wool or silk, on a silk or cotton foundation, and may have either a thin silk, or wool pile. Their patterns consists of medallions surrounded by weeping willows, a cluster of trees and/or cypresses, arabesques (ornamental designs), and most popular, the four seasons used to depict the life of the Persian farmer. Their rich colors consist of red & blue with an ivory background, while newer Tabriz Rugs have softer colors such as green, blue and brown to correspond with modern interiors.
