A square of raw steel is rapidly heated then cooled and hammered, shattering the metal into unique shapes as the crystalline structure re-forms, creating the darkly glittery focus of this pendant. 

No two pendants will ever be alike since the metal shatters differently every time. The maker is a trained metalsmith who has studied blacksmithing. This classic metalworking technique is rarely encountered in jewelry making. While the sterling silver setting and chain will remain the same, the steel will oxidize and subtly change colors with time, wear, exposure to water and salt, allowing you to enjoy the magic of metallurgy over time. 

Set within a 1/2\" constructed sterling silver frame with two prongs holding the broken steel securely in place, the pendant is suspended from a large link 17\" sterling silver chain with a large toggle clasp for easy wear.
