This is a fascinating pendant carved from a single piece of green jade. A cube with a ball captured within - free to move but not to wander! This is a lovely little work of art carved from bright, highly polishes British Columbian jade.

The cube has an interesting symbolism - its geometric perfection is a symbol of stability and permanence. Some think it represents the truth because it appears the same viewed from all sides. 

The true marvel in this piece is the skill required to create a cube-shaped sculpture, with an internal freely moving ball, from a single piece of jade. The artisan must hollow out the interior of the jade block, without damaging the surrounding structure, to form a seamless cavity containing a loose sphere. The slightest error can fracture the stone or immobilise the ball. The result is a mesmerising paradox: a solid cube of jade enclosing a perfectly crafted ball, both carved from one unbroken piece of stone.
