Detailed information on Amber Bead Necklace

The really cool jewelry accessory in the 1960s and 70\'s was an amber necklace. The ubiquitous amber necklace became the gold standard in any bead shop and made the ultimate groovy fashion statement. Many of the pieces in the shops were not amber and in fact most of the larger beads were Bakelite or cherry amber.

The large bead necklace with tagmout eggs is highly unusual because it is what was an experimental product created by combining 60% amber with powdered bakelite that was a molded product. When tested this meets the standards of amber however all the beads are the same size and perfectly matched. This product would have dated to the early 20th century. Purchased in the 40\'s by a friends mom in Marakesh.
