The COROS APEX 4 isn’t here to impress your wrist at brunch. It’s here for the long hauls, the steep hauls, the “hope-this-battery-lasts-through-the-night” hauls. Built for mountain junkies, ultra-runners, ski tourers, and the kind of people who read topographic lines like poetry, it’s the watch for anyone who measures time in vert and weather, not steps and calories.
This thing’s not a smartwatch, it’s a survival tool with manners. The APEX 4 ditches distractions and goes all-in on endurance, accuracy, and toughness. The titanium Grade 5 bezel and sapphire glass shrug off rock strikes and gate slams like it’s nothing. The new Memory-in-Pixel display might not blind you indoors like an AMOLED, but in blazing alpine sun it’s crystal-clear.
And that battery? Unreal. Up to 65 hours of full-GPS tracking on the 46 mm version, and even longer in regular mode. Dual-band GPS and a new barometric altimeter make your data sharper than ever, whether you’re skinning up a ridge, dodging switchbacks, or chasing FKTs in the dark. Navigation got a serious overhaul too—topo maps load faster, trails and street names pop, and the interface finally feels snappy thanks to the new Ambiq processor. You’ll even find a speaker and mic onboard for quick calls or voice notes when your hands are frozen and your phone’s buried in a pack.
Both the 42 mm and 46 mm versions now share the same high-end internals—no more “Pro” label needed. The design’s been slimmed and toughened with reinforced lugs and a more intuitive crown placement. It’s lighter, cleaner, and just as indestructible.
Compared to the APEX 2, this one feels less like a refresh and more like a total reboot. Faster brains, smarter maps, stronger GPS, and a UI that actually keeps up with you. You’ll still find all the modes you want—run, trail, climb, ski, multi-sport—with the same training metrics COROS is known for.
If you’re after a screen that streams your playlists or handles payments, this isn’t your ride. But if you want a watch that’ll still be alive at hour 30 of your 100-miler, or halfway through your next sufferfest on the skin track, the APEX 4’s your partner. It’s lean, gritty, and all business, just like the athletes who wear it.
