1950s Hand-Dyed Purple Silk Slip Dress

A breathtaking piece from our hand-dyed vintage lingerie collection, this 1950s silk slip dress has been transformed into a one-of-a-kind treasure. Hand-dyed in a rich shade of purple, it features a stunning ombre effect, with the color deepening beautifully toward the hem.  All measurements are taken with the garment lying flat (in inches). (1 inch = 2.54 cm)

For reference, the mannequin is a women’s size Large with the following measurements:

• Bust: 38.18” (97 cm)

• Antique fabrics (pre-1930s): Delicate materials such as 1920s silk or Edwardian muslin require extra care. These fabrics can be fragile and should be worn loosely to prevent stress or tearing.

Things to Consider for Edwardian & Victorian Clothing:

• A marked XS piece may have medium-sized shoulders and hips but a tiny waist(corset-era sizing).

• Sleeves are often ¾ length, not full-length.

• Buttons may be mismatched due to age and previous repairs.
