Curator\'s Notes

These shapely candles are perfect for all occasions. Made from sumac wax and a washi paper core, these traditional candles are handmade with techniques unchanged since the 16th century. Each candle burns for approximately 90mins, so there will be plenty of time to enjoy its unique light. Takazawa candles are known in Japan for its taller and brighter flame compared to most paraffin candles. The cast iron candle stand shown in the images is not included but can be found here.
