HOT ! Victorian Etruscan Revival Locket, 14k Gold Fabulous!

This incredibly detailed Etruscan Revival Locket was expertly crafted in the 1870\'s! It was made to hold a precious lock of hair of a loved one. During the Victorian period, ancient civilizations were being discovered along with it\'s decorative art and jewelry. The Victorian era jeweler studied the jewelry of the ancient Etruscan civilization which flourished between the 8th and 3rd centuries BC. This was a wealthy civilization and a major Mediterranean trading power. Their jewelry was quite sophisticated, and fascinated the people of the 19th century. Ladies wanted to wear the revival jewelry, which was often comprised of substantial amounts of gold and was wonderfully showy.The locket tests 14K, but is a rich yellow gold due to a coating of high karat gold. This was commonly done on these pieces. It has its original bale! It would look good on a rope chain as shown, but would also look good on a satin cord. It measures 1 7/8\" by 1\". It weighs 7.8 grams without the chain. I have not disturbed the century old patina.
