Detailed information on Matte Sodalite Gold Vermeil Bracelet (8mm)

Sodalite was unknown to the world until 1811. A century later, a princess made it famous.

Product Highlights:

  • The Stone: Matte sodalite in deep royal blue. Each bead shows natural white veining that moves through the stone like clouds through a night sky. The matte finish softens the color and gives the surface a velvety texture you can feel on the wrist. No two beads share the same pattern. At the center sits a single vermeil gold logo bead. It features 3.5 microns of pure 24kt gold over sterling silver, creating a warmer and deeper gold than standard plating.

  • History: Sodalite was first recorded in 1811 in Greenland, but it remained a scientific curiosity for decades. That changed in 1891 when large deposits of fine material were discovered near Bancroft, Ontario, Canada. A decade later, in 1901, the Princess of Wales visited North America and received a gift of Canadian sodalite. She was so amazed by the stone that she arranged for over 130 tons to be shipped to England to decorate Marlborough House, her London residence. The Bancroft mine was renamed the \"Princess Sodalite Mine\" in her honor. Sodalite is often mistaken for lapis lazuli because of its deep blue color, but it lacks the golden pyrite flecks that define lapis. It carries its blue differently. It is quieter and more muted, with white veining instead of gold.

  • The Belief: In modern crystal practice, sodalite is a throat and third eye chakra stone. It is said to strengthen clear thinking, honest communication, and rational thought. It is sometimes called the \"poet\'s stone\" for its reputation in enhancing creative expression and clear speech.
