Poul Volther for Fastrup - Windsor ChairDenmark, c.1960sBeech53 × 39.5 × 85.5 cm
A classic Danish Windsor chair designed by Poul M. Volther for Fastrup. Crafted in beech, the chair combines traditional Windsor construction with the clarity and restraint of mid-century Scandinavian design.
Volther’s approach was rooted in honest materials and functional elegance, and this chair is a perfect example of that ethos.
Poul Volther (1923–2001) was one of Denmark’s most influential furniture designers. Trained as a cabinetmaker before studying at the School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen, he later became head of design at FDB Møbler, shaping the company’s post-war direction. His work is known for its craftsmanship, simplicity and ergonomic intelligence; qualities embodied in iconic pieces like the Corona chair and in his more modest, functional designs for everyday Danish homes.
This Fastrup Windsor chair captures that spirit: light, well-proportioned, and made to last. A versatile piece that works equally well at a dining table, desk or as an occasional chair.
