This exceptional Japanese whetstone was selected by us and imported directly from Japan, thoroughly tested and sealed on the sides to protect the stone for long term use.

t measures 225 mm (8.86 inches) long × 80 mm (3.15 inches) wide × 25 mm (0.98 inches) tall, and weighs 1171 g (41.31 oz / 2.58 lbs).

Hardness: 4Perfect Aiiwatani Suita with Karasu. A solid medium hard stone which offers a totally unique feel while sharpening/honing. Each side of this piece offers a slightly different hardness level. Both sides have a rich, creamy feel with excellent ease of use. Although a bit on the softer side, it polishes to a fine finish with extended work. Standalone finishing seems to be the stones strength but after testing with Mikawa Nagura, I was pleasantly surprised by its ability to transmit feedback amidst the high percentage of base stones slurry. This Karasu is fine enough to finish a razor but takes patience and slurry management to yield the most keen edges. Perfect for pre finishing razors.
