This cool coffee table was made from a remnant live edge slab of figured Cherry. The piece was cut off of a larger custom build and set to the side to create something unique out of it. This minimalist coffee table features a bold black stained lip along one natural edge. The color matches the black filled resin that runs through the ingrown bark and drying check along the center of the table. The wood has been kiln dried, flattened, sanded smooth and finished in multiple coats of hand-rubbed lacquer in a satin sheen. This old school finishing technique and application is loved for its moisture resistance, protection of the wood and ability to highlight the beautiful natural colors and figuring of raw wood. The top is paired with four steel hairpin legs that have also been clear coated for protection. The bottom of the table is branded with the Kentucky LiveEdge logo and artists signature. Note the 1-3 lighter colored streaks running across the surface. These are not flaws, but rather figuring and sticker staining (where the wood dried stickered and stacked- it\'s part of the process).
